“But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth”
John 4:23-24
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created”

Saint Monica Parish Chippewa site houses one of only a few Perpetual Adoration Chapels in the Pittsburgh Diocese. Our Saint Joseph Perpetual Adoration Chapel offers a quiet, comfortable, and serene environment for uninterrupted personal worship. The Chapel is open from Sunday 1:00 PM continually through Saturday at 4:00 PM, when it closes so as to not conflict with the weekend Mass schedule. Spend your hour in the presence of Jesus’ most powerful form on earth as you wish.
What is Perpetual Adoration?
Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration is the adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist. The Eucharist is displayed in a monstrance for Catholics to come to pray and worship Jesus continually throughout the day and night. The term “perpetual adoration” designates the practically uninterrupted adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. At Saint Monica Parish Perpetual Adoration Chapel this means that someone is always in prayer before the Holy Eucharist and is uninterrupted in our chapel.
What does the Church say about Eucharistic Adoration?
“Of all devotions, that of adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the greatest after the Sacraments, the one dearest to God and the most helpful to us.” St. Alphonsus Liguori “The time we spend with Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration is the best time we can spend on earth.” Saint Teresa of Calcutta “The worship of the Eucharist is of inestimable value.” Pope Saint John Paul II “In Heaven, we will consider these moments with the Lord as the happiest of our earthly lives.” St. John Vianney “You have great need for Eucharistic Adoration.” Pope Saint John Paul II “In the course of the day, the faithful should not omit visiting the Blessed Sacrament.” Blessed Pope Paul VI “I hope that… Perpetual Adoration with permanent exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will continue into the future. Specifically, I hope for the establishment of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration in all parishes and Christian communities throughout the world.” Pope Saint John Paul II
Please note: the hours between 9pm and 6am are private adoration hours. You must be a registered adorer to be admitted during that period of time.
Baptism
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission:
“Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.”
Parents please note, when planning your baptism with family and friends, the parish does Baptisms on the second Sunday of the month.
A preparation program is required for all parents and Godparents. To be a Godparent for Baptism requires active participation in the life of the Church including regular worship at Sunday Mass.
If you anticipate a baptism at the parish in the next few months, BOTH PARENTS are to attend the Pre- Baptism class. Plan to attend this class before the birth of your baby to avoid unnecessary delays in scheduling the Baptism of your child. To schedule your class call the parish office 724-846-7540.
Eucharist
The holy Eucharist completes Christian initiation. Those who have been raised to the dignity of the royal priesthood by Baptism and configured more deeply to Christ by Confirmation participate with the whole community in the Lord’s own sacrifice by means of the Eucharist.
Saint Monica Parish adores and worship the Living Lord Jesus thru:
Confirmation
The sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For “by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.”
Saint Monica Parish 7th and 8th Grade Students prepare for Confirmation through our OneEight program.
Reconciliation
Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God’s mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion.
Saint Monica Parish offers Confession twice during the week. First on Tuesdays from 7:00pm to 8:00pm and on Saturdays at 5:00pm between our Saturday Masses.
Marriage
The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.
Couples planning a wedding:
It is the policy of the Diocese that the Church is contacted six months before the date of the Wedding in order to begin the necessary paper work and instruction time prior to the Wedding. Couples are asked to call the Parish office and Father will see if the date is open and ask questions at that time in order that we can proceed at a later date.
Saint Monica Parish is happy to announce our new Marriage Preparation initiative For Better & Forever Marriage Sponsors. For more information on this program please click here.
Anointing of the Sick
By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ.
Please contact the parish office to request a priest perform Anointing.
The Men’s Bible Study is sponsored by the St. Monica Holy Name Society. Our purpose is to help assist men in developing a greater understanding and appreciation of Scripture. We also discuss Catholic Church documents, teachings, papal encyclicals and exhortations from a biblical standpoint.
The meetings are lively and provide a chance to think and express one’s thoughts about scripture and how it affects our lives and the life of the church. Some of the studies we have done in the past include; The Gospel of St. John, Acts of Apostles, an exploration of the Holy Spirit.
The Men’s Bible Study meets every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month at either Mary’s room or St. Josephs room at the St Monica Chippewa site.
“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” John:1
A Rosary Cenacle is held every Monday at the Chippewa site at 9:30am after Mass at the request of the Blessed Mother. God wants her to have this power, but she requests our prayers to assist her. All are welcome to join us. Our cenacle includes the invocation to the Holy Spirit, recitation of the rosary, prayers for our pope, a reading, and an act of consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
“I am the Lady of the Rosary, I have come to warn the faithful to amend their lives and ask for pardon for their sins. They must not offend Our Lord any more, for He is already too grievously offended by the sins of men. People must say the Rosary. Let them continue saying it every day. ” Our Lady of Fatima 1917
“Love the Madonna and pray the Rosary, for her Rosary is the weapon against the evils of the world today.” Saint Padre Pio
Catholic at Geneva College is an apostolate of St. Monica Parish, aiming to support the students in their growth in faith while away from the life of their home parish. Meeting weekly at the Beaver Falls Coffee & Tea Company, they discuss a wide variety of topics about the faith, including scripture study, apologetics, prayer, and life as a follower of Christ. We provide opportunities to put one’s faith in action by participating in the March for Life and offering volunteer opportunities. The apostolate also supports the students by providing transportation for Sunday mass and other church events. We welcome St. Monica parishioners to take part in this apostolate to serve our young adults.

The establishment of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers in Saint Monica Parish was approved by His Excellency Lawrence A. DiNardo, Vicar General of Pittsburgh and the said Confraternity has been affiliated with the Archconfraternity of Christian Mothers, under the patronage of Mary the Sorrowful Mother. By receiving Our Lord in Holy Communion, working together, meeting regularly to pray with and for one another and their children, the members are schooled in the ideals of Christian womanhood, wifehood, and motherhood, and aid one another in educating their children at home to become faithful members of the Catholic Church and imitators of Mary, the ideal Mother, and her perfect son, Jesus Christ.
